Britney Spears' little sister Jamie Lynn is pregnant. She is 16, not even old enough to go to the junior prom. Why am I not surprised? And, why is the 18 year old kid who did the deed not being arrested for statutory rape? Maybe the laws of Louisiana don't cover that minor detail. Is the statehouse of Louisiana still in a trailer?
Britney (shouldn't that be Brittany? Maybe mom can't spell) Spears life reminds me of Erskine Caldwell's book
Tobacco Road where the dirt poor family gets some money and goes wild. We all know of Britney's travails. She is a perfect example of (inappropriate term) with money. Her little sister had the opportunity to be the "good" kid of the family, but, oh, well. It's like Michael Vick being the good son over loser brother Marcus until he decided it was cool to kill man's best friend.
Read on. This gets even better. Mom Lynne Spears has written a book about parenting and it is scheduled to be published by a Christian publisher. Uh, correction: The book has been placed on hold because with her screwed up kids, perhaps Lynne is not the one to be talking about parenting, especially in a book from a Christian publisher. One person in the media has joked that "Having Lynne Spears write a book about parenting is like having Jeffrey Dahmer write a book about eating."
Maybe Lynne Spears should have held her daughters to higher standards regarding sex when they were growing up. Now, 16 year old Jamie Lynn, who is still a child herself, will be a mother. I'm sure she and her 18 year old boyfriend will be a lifetime loving couple. Yeah, right. In a couple years she won't even remember his name. What about the kid? What chance will that kid have living in a household with those yahoos? Another question: How did the press find out about this? Shouldn't the family want it to be hushed up? Oh, I forgot, we're talikng about relatives of Britney Spears.
The Kaiser Family Foundation reports that 91 percent of 15- to 17-year-olds who had not had sex said they were influenced by what their parents had taught them regarding sex. Some parents give their kids birth control items because "they are going to have sex anyway." That seems incomprehensible but I guess it is true. Apparently, Lynne Spears didn't even think of that.
