It was long overdue. America finally got wise and voted Bucky Covington off American Idol.

I believe Bucky is a great guy. This was re-enforced on last night's elimination show, when the producers showed a vignette from Bucky's hometown, Rockingham, N.C., where his father said Bucky is the biggest thing to happen to his hometown since the racetrack closed. It makes for great television, but the truth is Bucky just isn't that good of a singer.

I wish Bucky well. But I also look forward to the following weeks, when American Idol is going to get more and more competitive.

And, one more note. Since I'm sure the producers read my blog on a weekly basis, can I make one suggestion? Could we work a little harder to get cooler musical themes? Next week is the music of Rod Stewart and I can think of few things less appealing... maybe the music of Barbara Streisand. How about tapping some of the truly great musicians of the past few decades? I'm thinking Bruce Springsteen, Tina Turner, R.E.M., U2 - bands with big music catalogues that offer a lot of variety. If the requirement is just that you've got a new album coming out, like Stewart, we're going to end up with lame performances. And that doesn't make for good television.

You are so right on about Bucky, great guy, but not the best talent. My money is still with Katherine, I think she is really talented but I'm afraid the public won't pick her. Ace is more beautiful!

Annie, I think a requirement for all solo performers who do Idol is they have had to had a facelift or other cosmetic surgery in the last month. And what s wrong with Queen?
