Felony filing possible for Broncos' Travis Henry?

Some days it pays to be named Travis Henry. Other days it doesn't.

While my "Googlebility" has forever been shattered by having a professional football player with the same name as mine, I have always thought I may someday see preferential treatment via restaurant reservations made over the phone due to my name.

But the phone call I received Monday was unexpected.

A man named John Monahan from the firm of Leland, Scott and Associates called my home and left a message saying he was attempting to reach the Travis Henry that plays for the Denver Broncos.

He said he was in the process of filing a class B felony warrant affidavit against Travis Henry with a district attorney that will next go to a grand jury. He left no other details. My call for more information went unanswered Monday evening.

It looks like Leland, Scott and Associates is a powerhouse collection agency out of Texas, so I suspect this is money related. And knowing collection agents, his threats may be a lot of huffing and puffing.

Perhaps, they aren't looking for Travis Henry the football player at all and instead are going after me for that damn $43 Earthlink bill I refuse to pay. Note to Earthlink: I have paid that bill twice over and canceled your service many moons ago, but you are still hassling me. Why?

If that is the case I wonder if Travis Henry, the football player, is receiving phone calls from Earthlink demanding their $43.

If that's the case, I apologize. But, I doubt it.

Update: I talked to John Monahan Tuesday morning and he informed me that the affidavit concerned a bad check that Travis Henry, the football player, allegedly passed while playing for Tennessee. While he didn't disclose the amount, Monahan said it was a big money check used to buy jewelry. Monahan said he was looking to give Travis Henry, the football player, a chance to resolve the situation. Monahan has since contacted attorneys for the Denver Broncos and says he will now leave me alone.

Don't you love the way collection agencies use and misuse legalese to at least baffle, if not terrify, their targets? Going to "file a Class B felony warrant affidavit"? Who can possibly know what that means? Sure sounds scary, though!
