The Searchers
Contributed by: John Scherer   on 10/9/2008

No, I'm not talking about the John Wayne Classic, but the world of search on the Internet.

Like most folks (but not all) you likely use Google for online search. Last time I checked they had about 70% of the market. But what about the other 30%?

The most recent challenge came from cuil.com. So far Cuil isn't remotely cool with searchers.

But there are people who still 'Yahoo" and others who "Ask." Frankly, if you're looking for the best search results possible, it's good to use more than one search engine.

With that in mind, outfits like "ask.com" are hanging in there.

Google is indeed the proverial 800 pound guerilla in the world of search, but when the world is as big as it is, there is room still left for other players. Or even an upstart we haven't heard of yet. Believe it or not, there was a time when no one ever heard of Google.
