Hey peeps!
Seriously. I have missed you blogworld. Very much.
I have been itching to blog for quite some time, I kid you not. However, the demands of school, and my family seem to wipe out any "me time". I did make it over to the Nordstrom Rack with Will though, for a brief look at some active wear. I came home with some nice stretchy pants, much to my sister's disdain. She hates active wear. But I say sometimes comfort has to take priority over fashion. Whatever.
Anyway, I have so much to share and hardly know where to begin.
You'll be happy to hear that I have pretty much kicked my habit of Breathe Right strips. It was hard to give them up, and after many sleepless nights of not breathing right, I can say I almost never wear them anymore. Unless I have a cold, but I count that as a "medical necessity" and since I'm going to school, so I can get into Nursing School, I know these things.
Another fairly big event is that we found out my husband needs cataract surgery in both eyes. He's only 41, so naturally everyone else who has had the surgery was a child during the Great Depression ( NOT the current one). They always say things like, "Oh my dear, you are so young to have this surgery, sonny. So young."
This does nothing to comfort Billy, and only agitates him further. He even dreamed about the surgery the other night. The gist of the dream was this: During his surgery, he received someone else's lens -- from an organ donor. As his eyes heal he begins to see the donor's life and memories, and in the grand climax of the dream, he realizes his donor had murdered someone, for he saw it with his very own eyes.
As Billy describes this dream to me, I secretly question his sanity. Unfortunately I forgot to use my "inside my head" voice and called him an idiot out loud.
I'm really annoyed with Billy right now anyway. He is totally hogging all the eye attention around here. What with his upcoming surgery it's all I hear about. And for two weeks, AT LEAST, I've had some eye pain of my own. I finally caved yesterday and went to a random eye doctor close to home.
Last time I went to the eye doctor at Costco, and now I have to tilt my glasses at an angle to see beyond 5 inches. So anyway, I picked a new place, and as the doctor was viewing my eyes, totally invading my space bubble, I noticed she looked repulsed. I could tell this because she was so close to my face, naturally. As she pulled away, she told me there was some major crap happening in there and I needed drops asap.
Luckily I'd only been to Target eight other times this week, so the trip to pick up my prescription didn't feel like a waste. As Will and I waited for the drops, I found a very cute hat, going for less than 10 bucks. I hadn't washed my hair and as I tried it on, I was impressed with the vast improvement it made, so along with my new eye drops, I got a hat. Billy is so jealous that not only is my eye problem fixable with drops, I am way more stylish than he is.
The kids have had the last two Fridays off from school for things like Teacher In-services and Parent Teacher Conferences. We got both Jack and Faith's conferences in last night, so we'd have time to play today. You'll be relieved to know that my children got glowing reports. It's always weird to hear some strange lady talk about how amazing your kids are, when the last thing you said to them was, "quit wiping your booger on your sister," or "please don't tell people Mommy is gassy". So, naturally I was pleasantly surprised.
Faith has had a pretty busy social calendar lately. It's hard to keep up with the girl. She's always being invited to birthday parties, and last week she went to see Wicked with my mom. It was her first BIG night on the town, and boy were we excited. She's been singing all the songs by heart for over a year, and I couldn't wait to hear her impression of the show. Would she be afraid? Would the songs be more magical in person, than in the car when I'm harmonizing with Elphaba? Would she understand the plot?
It turns out that the Sierra Mist she got during Intermission was bigger news than the actual production. The details about the cup size, her name on the cup, and the line she didn't have to wait in-all amazing. It's been a week since she went, and again last night I asked her if she had anything else that was special about her night on the town, and she replied, "It was a good thing I got that Sierra Mist". Next time I think I'll save a hundred bucks and just take her to 7/11 for a pop.
School is going well, thanks for asking. I'm over halfway done with my semester, and can tell you I'll be relieved when it's over. I'm literally dreaming about things like veins and arteries, and all kinds of little microorganisms. I took the kids to the movies today and accidentally dropped my cell phone on the floor. My immediate thought was, "I wonder if there's an autoclave close by so I can clean this thing off." I know, it's weird.
Anyway, I just wanted to catch you up on our lives. Once I get a break from school, I'll get back on my blogging track.
Until next time friends ...
