gallery910Arts Spotlights Metro Neighborhoods and Colorado Landscapes
gallery 910Arts, a unique breed of gallery, puts the spotlight on metro area neighborhoods and Colorado landscapes with two exhibitions opening this month at Nine10Arts at 910 Santa Fe Drive.
Local Flavor, an exhibition of acrylic paintings and giclee fine art prints by Paula Hudson, depicts Denver area scenes of Park Hill, Pearl Street Mall, City Park, Denver Skyline and Littleton, with subjects ranging from Spinelli's Market, to the Big Blue Bear at the Denver Convention Center, to Jessie's Barber Shop and the Cherrlyn Trolley Car.
Colorado Tour features Bill Bonebrake's landscape photographs of dramatic Colorado scenes captured in locales around the state, including Peanut Lake and Paradise Divide near Crested Butte, Mt. Wilson and Ralph Lauren's ranch near Telluride, Maroon Bells near Aspen and Hahn's Peak reflected in Steamboat Lake.
Local Flavor runs from June 13 to July 9, and
Colorado Tour runs from June 13 through July 21. The artists' opening reception takes place on Friday, June 20, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Storytelling events are scheduled during the run of the exhibitions, with Renee Fajardo presenting urban legends based on Paula Hudson's paintings on Friday, June 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. And, on Friday, July 18, from 6 to 8 p.m., John Story Brooks in character as "Crackerjack, the Rocky Mountain Storyteller," offers stories to complement Bill Bonebrake's Colorado landscape photographs. Storytelling events are free and open to the public.
Photography Workshops conducted by Bill Bonebrake are offered on Tuesday, June 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, June 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. "How to Compose and Expose" includes a slide show presentation featuring tips on composition, a discussion of how film and digital exposure techniques affect the picturetaking process, the business of photography, and a question and answer session. Reservations are required and the cost is $35 per person with proceeds benefiting the non-profit organization, 910Arts.
Paula Hudson has been painting for 30 years in watercolor and, more recently, in acrylic. Concentrating on urban metro scenes, her work reflects the dynamism of Denver and Colorado.
Bill Bonebrake publishes his photography through his business, JAMIT (Just A Moment In Time) Publishing headquartered in Colorado. Bill travels nearly 20,000 miles a year photographing the Four Corners region of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Arizona.
gallery910Arts is located within the complex known as Nine10Arts, a community of 17 artists' studios and 8 live/work lofts in the heart of Denver's Art District on Santa Fe. 910Arts is a non-profit organization designed to introduce the community to the arts through programs that teach art appreciation, develop skills in art, and increase awareness of the amount and quality of art available.
