Description:
The Women Business Owners Council will host the lunch workshop, "Where's the money and how do we get some of it?" from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 11 at the Colorado Women's Chamber of Commerce offices at 1624 Market St., Suite 340, in Denver, CO.
The workshop is $25 for members, $35 for non-members and walk-ins and includes a catered lunch. Attendees can register online at
www.cwcc.org. Participants must be business owners.
This interactive session will focus on business owners and the specific issues they face. Panelists include: Sumer Sorensen-Bain, Denver Metro Regional Director for the Colorado Association for Manufacturing & Technology (CAMT); Candy Parks, Account Manager, Performance Solutions at the Community College of Denver; and Debbie Tester Sakagawa, owner, Outer Office, LLC.
Sorensen-Bain has helped companies locate and acquire federal and state grants in the state of Colorado for more than 10 years. She participates in advisory groups to local manufacturing task forces, economic development councils, and the Dept. of Labor Wired Solutions Team. She will discuss how to use local resources to find and apply for grant funding.
Parks works with companies to provide creative solutions to real-world business challenges including improving processes, managing projects, leading effectively, and overcoming communication problems. She will talk about the $3.6 million grant money available to Colorado businesses to reimburse companies for the cost of employee training.
Sakagawa leverages over 23 years of management and administrative experience to lead a team of virtual professionals. She and her team provide grant writing support including research, writing, editing and overall project management. She will focus her discussion on how to get the grant money a business owner needs.
The Women Business Owners Council helps business owners identify challenges and solutions to grow their businesses through interactive learning opportunities with other business owners. For more information on the Colorado Women's Chamber of Commerce, call 303-458-0220, e-mail
