Phil Coulter & Irish Pops in Denver for St. Pat's
Contributed by: Celtic Events and American Ireland Fund on 1/30/2008

What:

PHIL COULTER and THE IRISH POPS ORCHESTRA to perform ST. PATRICK'S DAY Weekend Concert in Denver!

After an absence of six years, Ireland's Ambassador of Music, Phil Coulter and his Irish Pops Orchestra are heading Stateside for a short tour that will bring him to Denver for St. Patrick's Day Weekend for a concert at the Paramount Theatre March 16.
Phil holds a very special place as one of the main architects of contemporary Irish music. As a songwriter he has contributed classics like 'THE TOWN I LOVED SO WELL', 'STEAL AWAY', 'THE OLD MAN'. 'SCORN NOT HIS SIMPLICITY' and the sporting Anthem 'IRELAND'S CALL'. As a record producer and performer, he has worked with some of Ireland's greats, from VANMORRISON and SINEAD O'CONNOR to LIAM NEESON and JAMES GALWAY - Phil has also co-penned Pop songs made hits by various artists including BAY CITY ROLLERS, RICHARD HARRIS, and ELVIS!
As a recording artist Phil has the distinction of being the biggest selling instrumentalist ever in Ireland, with 'SEA OF TRANQUILITY' being the highest grossing album of all time. His increasing international profile culminated in a prestigious Grammy Nomination. He is a hugely popular figure on T.V. in Ireland and for three years hosted his own T.V. series, 'COULTER AND COMPANY'

Phil has spent most of 2007 bring his considerable firepower as Composer and Musical Director to a stunning new musical extravaganza, 'CELTIC MAN' due to air across the U.S. on P.B.S in early March 2008.

But this legendary musician still loves to perform! "I can't wait to get back to play for my American audiences, some of the most appreciative and enthusiastic in the world". As always he will be accompanied by his hand picked musicians, some of the cream of Ireland's talent, including one World Champion and Two All Ireland Champions.

"The show will be a mix of some of our most popular instrumentals, enchanting Irish melodies and our most requested songs" says Phil. "As always, we will feature the glorious sound of the Irish Pipes and whistles mixed with the lush texture of the Orchestra showcasing the virtuoso talents of my All Star line-up. It will be a celebration of all that is best in Irish music....and our 20 th Anniversary!"

This Tour is a rare not to be missed opportunity to enjoy the style, the sophistication and the unique sound of one of Ireland's true musical heroes.

"Coulter's Carnegie Hall Concert was a thing of beauty" Irish Post, New York
