The Colorado Chamber Players will perform an all-Baroque concert on Wednesday July 9th, 7:30 p.m., at St. John's Cathedral. Emily Bullock, Mezzo-Soprano, will join the CCP as soloist in two of J.S. Bach's most beloved cantatas. Cantata #170 (Vergnugte Ruh) and Cantata #54 (Wiederstehe Doch der Sünde) will be performed, along with a Benedetto Marcello Cantata for Alto, Viola, and Continuo. Cantata #54 was famed pianist Glenn Gould's favorite Bach Cantata. Colorado Springs Philharmonic principal flutist Paul Nagem will play Bach's Musical Offering Trio Sonata with CSO principal second violin Paul Primus and CU/Boulder keyboard professor Andrew Cooperstock on harpsichord. Emily Bullock, Mezzo-Soprano, has sung as soloist with numerous regional opera companies & orchestras in Bach's Magnificat & St. Matthew Passion, Handel's Messiah, Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Mahler's Kindertotenlieder, & Schönberg's Brettl-Lieder, & Amy Beach's Mass in E-flat. Additional performances include Schönberg's Der hängenden Garten, Pierrot Lunaire, & Das Lied der Waldtaube. Opera, operetta, & musical theatre performances include Isabella in L'Italiana in Algeri; Mrs. Maurrant in Street Scene, & Augusta Tabor in The Ballad of Baby Doe. Ms. Bullock has performed solo recitals in Tennessee, Colorado, Oklahoma, Illinois & Pennsylvania including a recital for the Colorado Music Festival. She has sung a series of concerts at CU/Boulder featuring the songs of Schubert & at the Colorado MahlerFest. Ms. Bullock was a 1998 finalist in The Concert Artists Guild Competition, was the 1995 winner of the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Competition & has twice been a regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She holds a BM Degree from the University of Colorado, an MM Degree from the University of Tulsa, & a DMA degree from the University of Colorado. She is currently a faculty member at West Chester University in West Chester, PA.
