On Saturday, May 17 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the Buck Recreation Center in Littleton hosts a Ballroom Dancing event featuring the music of Skylarks Octet featuring renowned performer Charles King with the ever popular Neil Bridge on piano. Tickets are only $7 / seniors 65+ $6.Jose Trujillo of Jose's Restaurant is providing a free buffet starting at 7 p.m.


Charles King, a versatile performer with extensive experience coast to coast singing with bands and as a solo artist, has joined the Windjammers Jazz Orchestra. In 1989, Charles King left "legitimate" theatre and ventured into a career that would take him from Las Vegas to Rome, Italy, to cruise ships and a private performance for the President of The United States.Drawing upon nearly 20 years of musical training, character development and a natural talent he is comfortable as Frank Sinatra, as Elvis, and of course, Dean Martin.


Though he retired from full-time teaching in 1987, Neil Bridge has maintained a busy schedule performing with his band, the Neil Bridge 7+, at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver, Copper Mountain Monte Carlo Night, Taste of Keystone, The Wine and Sculpture Festival, Mt. Vernon Country Club. He can be seen occasionally playing with Conjunto Colores, The Hot Tomatoes, The Neophonic Big Band and on January 20 with the Skylarks Combo. To honor and celebrate Neil's contribution to the musical arts The Denver School of the Arts has dedicated a new music room in his name.



Gaining in popularity, the Skylarks have been performing their big band sound for the dancing and entertainment pleasure of metro residents for the past three years. Lead by Littleton music educator and trombonist Ron Ingle, the Skylarks include Greg Perkin on Tenor Saxophone and Bill Davis on Trumpet; additionally the band has added Steve Smith on Baritone Saxophone, Matt Rose on Electric Bass, and Milt Fender on drums.


Skylarks Combo performs under the umbrella of the Littleton Community Music Association (LCMA) and is featured 6 times a year at dance events hosted by the South Suburban Parks and Recreation. LCMAprovides performance opportunities for adults and youth in a supportive community setting.
