Historic William Baehr Observatory Open House

What:
Join Lookout Mountain Astronomy Team members at Pine Valley Ranch Park in Pine, Colorado for an evening of stargazing. In addition to several telescopes that will be set up for viewing, the historic William Baehr Observatory will be open for tours. The observatory houses a 1937 J.W. Fecker 6" refracting telescope that was commissioned by William Baehr. The observatory was constructed by his foreman, Conrad Johnson who utilized narrow gage railroad track, a differential from a Model-A Ford and other period items. Join us on May 17 and find out more!

The program will begin at 8:30 and end promptly at 10:30. If you plan to attend, please allow 20-minutes to hike up to the observatory from the parking lot. Participants must be able make the moderate 1/3 mile hike up to the observatory. Registration is suggested, however not required for this event.
