East High Angels Celebrate Heritage, Make History
Contributed by: Alumni and Friends of East High and the East High Angel Foundation on 7/15/2008

What:
Some have internationally recognizable names like astronaut Jack Swigert, actors Douglas Fairbanks, Sr., and Don Cheadle, and recording artists Judy Collins and Philip Bailey. Others are better known for their local contributions like veteran newspaper editor Miriam Goldberg, business leader and philanthropist Barry Hirschfeld and political leader Allegra "Happy" Haynes. What they all have in common is their heritage as graduates of Denver's East High School - the city's oldest public high school - located at 1600 E. City Park Esplanade.

This fall, East High School Alumni Heritage Hall will honor its first 30 inductees. Ten of the inaugural inductees are living, and the rest will be recognized posthumously. All will be celebrated at a gala dinner, Angels Making History, on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum. Tickets go on sale in August.

After years of dreaming and planning, East High School Alumni Heritage Hall finally came to life as the result of a joint effort between Alumni and Friends of East High and the East High Angel Foundation.

For more information about the gala dinner or East Alumni Heritage Hall, visit www.eastangelalliance.org, call Beth Gower at 303-757-8253 or email Morna Steninger at morna_s@comcast.net.
