INNOVATIVE THEATER AT AFFORDABLE PRICES
Just off of the Santa Fe Arts District on Lipan Street you can find what is being dubbed as Denver's Home for Original Theater. Buntport Theater Company, a six-person ensemble, write and produce all of their own work. Their style is quirky and their mission is to be accessible, which means less strain on your
pocketbook.
For the month of May, Buntport is re-mounting one of their old works, a breezy 1940's detective comedy. Performed on a set that showcases Buntport's creative design sensibility,
McGuinn & Murry
is a two-man show starring award-winning actors Erin Rollman and Erik Edborg.
"Bringing this show back to life has been fun," says Rollman, who plays 6 characters. "It's a challenge to look critically at something you made four years ago in order to improve upon it. Of course, as the authors, we have the freedom to change everything, from the script to the casting."
Buntport did just that. In addition to some tweaking here and there, Edborg is replacing Brian Colonna who originated the play's other 5 roles. The most exciting addition to this remount is that, on certain nights, the production has live accompaniment from local jazz combo The Hoagies. If you missed this
production four years ago or if you want to see how it has evolved, go to Buntport Theater during the month of May for a 1940's romp that's practically at 1940's prices.
