Transition Denver Presents "Peak Oil Blues Meets Financial Chaos" - A Presentation by Steve Andrews of the Association for the Study of Peak Oil

Transition Denver is proud to announce a presentation and discussion by the Association of the Study of Peak Oil's Steve Andrews about the current financial crisis and its potential effects on peak oil and energy supplies. The event "Peak Oil Blues Meets Financial Chaos" will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14 at the Mercury Café at 2155 California St. There is a $5 suggested donation.

Steve Andrews of the Association of the Study of Peak Oil (http://aspo-usa.com) is an energy consultant and freelance writer who has followed the peak oil issue since the early 1980s and since 1996 has delivered over 40 presentations on peak oil and natural gas at conferences and various education forums. ASPO-USA is a nonpartisan, proactive effort to encourage prudent energy management, constructive community transformation, and cooperative initiatives during an era of depleting petroleum resources.

Transition Denver is a group of local citizens who have joined the rapidly-growing, worldwide Transition Initiative Movement (www.transitiontowns.org). Transition Initiatives empower communities to squarely face the challenges of peak oil, climate change and financial instability. By unleashing the collective genius of each community, the answers to the following question can be found - "Given the aspects of life that this community needs in order to sustain itself and thrive, how do we drastically reduce carbon emissions, significantly rebuild resilience and strengthen our local economies?"

"We are excited to have Steve Andrews present his expertise on peak oil and energy alternatives" said Transition Denver's Dana Miller. "His understanding of the oil and gas industry is immense. We are also thrilled to have this event at the Mercury Café, a community center that has long been a beacon to the Denver community as an example of a locally-driven and sustainable business, long before it was fashionable."

This event is one of a series of Transition Denver events called Transition Fridays. Contact Dana Miller at 303-300-3547 for details, or visit www.transitioncolorado.ning.com for information about Transition Denver, as well as the other Transition Initiatives springing up in Colorado and other cities around the United States.
