CHAC Gallery and its twin, CHAC Norte, in the heart of the Santa Fe Art District, will be offering new art exhibits from July 1 to August 1.
The south gallery at 772 Santa Fe Drive presents a group show featuring paintings by Luis Gutierrez, Bob Luna, Jose Mares, James Martinez and Benita Olivas under the umbrella title
Freedom of Expressions.
Norte, at 774 Santa Fe Drive, will continue its June exhibit with the works of Bob Martinez, Stevon Lucero, Suzanne Martino, and Robert Maestas. All four of these artists will have new work up, in addition to their prior offerings. As always, First Friday (July 3 ) offers a chance to preview the art and meet the artists in a festive setting, from 6 to 9 pm.
Additionally, the Front Gallery will host
Frida and Diego -- Passion and Storms -- an eclectic exhibit of work by various artists honoring the lives, work, and often stormy relationship of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, Mexico's emblematic 20th century artists A reception and party in honor of Kahlo's birthday will be held July 18 from 6 to 9 p.m.
The party will feature a Frida and Diego look-a-like contest, which promises to be interesting, as the couple were distinctive -- even bizarre -- in both looks and dress.
Regular gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, noon to 10 p.m. Fridays, and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
