Come Celebrate Interdependence Day at the Mercury Cafe on July 4th. The Transition Towns Ban' and caller Richard Myers will lead A community dance otherwise known as ContraDance.
A potluck will precede the dance at 6:30 pm and it will be a zero waste event so please bring your own accessories (plates, cups, etc.)
The dance will begin around 8:00 pm and go until we drop (about 11 or so).
Everyone is welcome warmly (no one turned away). Suggested donation $5 - $15.
Played to joyful pleasant music Contra-dance is a cross between line dancing and square dancing. There is a fair amount of spinning but they say 'if you can walk, you can contra.' It is a big mixer so new partners with each dance are the standard.
The Mercury Cafe is at 22nd and California in Denver and is one of the leaders in our community for building community. Powered literally by the sun and wind the chef is resolved to purchase food as close as possible.

Transition approach empowers communities to squarely face the challenges of peak oil and climate change, and to unleash the collective genius of their own people to find the answers to this momentous question:
For all those aspects of life that this community needs in order to sustain itself and thrive, how are we going to: drastically reduce carbon emissions (in response to climate change); significantly rebuild resilience (in response to peak oil);and greatly strengthen our local economy (in response to economic instability)?
