Samantha's my name, but Carrie's my Dame!

Which character from Sex in the City am I most like? I'm a Carrie.

I'm drawn to Carrie as I'm guessing a lot of people are because her character was always able to provide more insight into herself by having the benefit of narrating the show. This narration often added another dimension to her personality that we weren't able to see as often in Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha.

So I think I know Carrie better than the other ladies, but I also think I'm most like Carrie. Here are a few character traits we share:

Optimism: most seasons Carrie chose to be an optimistic, glass-half full type of gal. Not necessary so happy go lucky, but definitely optimistic. I would like to think that on more days than not I'm also optimistic. It's just easier to go through life choosing to smile first, and I think Carrie looks for the silver lining in whatever situation she's in.

Romanticism: Carrie isn't a hopeless romantic, she's more realistic than that, but she definitely believes in a one true love. I belive in a one true love too.

Humor: Carrie would often use humor to ease tension during awkward conversations with her girlfriends. I also try to use humor to diffuse uncomfortable situations. Am I as successful as Carrie is? You'll have to ask my friends.

I'm such a Carrie that I even got in the habit of doing the rhetorical question to myself when writing or sometimes thinking, just like this:

"If the up and coming twenty-something women in the workplace really don't want the life-consuming careers of their older sisters, then I had to wonder, why do they continue to be so intimated by these women that have made it to the corner office if they don't even want that office? "

I've even quoted some of Carrie's best lines, like when she was staying at Adain's cabin in the country and she said that squirrels were really only rats with better wardrobes. Classic Carrie, and so true!

So I would love some tickets to see my sister-soul Carrie on the big screen. I'll take one of my friends; she's an odd mix of Samantha and Charlotte!

Thanks,
Samantha Richardson
