The Denver Art Museum (DAM), along with 11 other Denver museums, will be opening its doors for 12 hours of free fun on Nov. 7 in celebration of Free First Saturday and Denver Arts Week's Night at the Museums event.
Celebrate with the DAM, which will be open gratis from 10 am to 10 pm. Stop by in the afternoon for live dance and music performances. Ballet Ariel will perform classical ballet and contemporary dance. The Hannah Kahn Dance Company, a modern dance troupe, will offer a diverse assortment of contemporary and classical dance accompanied by the wind instrument quintet Gossamer Winds. There will be two performances, one at 1 p.m. and one at 3 p.m., in the NorthBuilding's Schlessman Hall.
With a handful of exhibitions that have debuted in recent weeks, there is plenty to explore at the DAM.
The Masterworks of Charles M. Russell exhibits the world of the untamed West through the oil paintings and bronze work of the revered western artist. Still on an old West kick? Denver artist Allen True's illustrations of Colorado show the evolution from wild mountain town to mile high city. Before the official opening of
Embrace! on Nov. 14, wander the Hamilton building to find site-specific installations by El Anatsui, Rick Dula, John McEnroe and Katharina Grosse.
Other museums involved in Saturday Night at the Museums include the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Children's Museum, ColoradoHistoryMuseum, Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, and more. Shuttles from museum to museum make transportation a snap and leave from the DenverArt Museum and the Cherry Creek Mall from 5 to 10 p.m.
