Beer aficionados can once again vie for the esteemed title of "Beerdrinker of the Year." Wynkoop Brewing Company in downtown Denver is hosting its 14th annual search to find America's greatest beer lover.

Applicants nationwide have until Dec. 31 to submit their résumé for, among other things, a chance to win a lifetime of free beer at Wynkoop.

"This isn't for someone who sits on the couch drinking beer and watching TV," said Marty Jones, the event organizer.

"This is very much the upper crust of beer lovers. This is kind of like winning the Nobel Peace Prize for beer drinking."

At the Feb. 27 finals - a historically raucous event open to the public - three finalists will be grilled by judges in light-hearted fashion on their knowledge of beer and why they love the frothy beverage so much.
