Spring is barreling down on us like a big truck. Summer will be here before we know it and if you could use a big truck to get that post winter project done there is a guy that has been serving Denver full time for 8 years. The trucks may have changed but it is still
Moe's Hauling to the rescue if you have an odd job that needs be done to make this summer more enjoyable.
Started by a guy that came to Colorado 22 years ago to visit an Army buddy, the Texas native didn't take long to decide this was a better place to live.
The seed for the idea of
Morris McElvain's company started back when he worked as a counselor for
University Health Science Center in their Drug and Alcohol program. With his degree in Human Services McElvain has logged a great deal of time with troubled teens and it was a trip with one of those teens past a Littleton Chicken farmer's place that was the source of that seed.
"This kid saw this truck for sale and he keeps talking about how his Dad had one just like it. I have always liked trucks myself and went back to talk to the owner and ended up buying his old Chevy." McElvain explains.
The hauling business is the result of the affliction most truck owners feel time to time.
His easy going personality and a vehicle that could fit a couch and mattress set got his and the Chevy's dance card filled pretty regularly. A sign on the truck became a natural progression and when the alternative school he has become involved with did not stay afloat it became more than just a weekend side job. The company name is from the nickname the teens he counseled gave him and if you have seen the flyers he has used you have seem some of the creativity of his three daughters. It's personal service that separates this independent Denver entrepreneur from the corporate companies providing hauling solutions. In addition, McElvain says he makes every effort to get useful material to places other than landfills.
Last year the Moe's Hauling sign went up on a Brand new Chevy that will tackle a much bigger job than a mere pick-up can handle. Some snow removal and the early stages of landscaping are services Moe's would be happy to talk to you about. His core business will always be the valuable service of taking away the items in the garage. You know... the ones keeping you from that convertible for summer.
