CAHSA Celebrates 40 Years Serving Colorado Seniors
Contributed by: Heather Hutchinson on 5/6/2008

The Colorado Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (CAHSA) celebrates 40 years of service to Colorado's senior service organizations this year.

CAHSA was founded in 1968 in an effort to keep the Colorado Legislature aware of the needs of senior home and service agencies. CAHSA advocates public policy initiatives that support individual rights, quality care, equitable access and reimbursement for seniors. CAHSA is the state affiliate for two national organizations, the Assisted Living Federation of America ( ALFA) and the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging ( AAHSA). CAHSA is the state's largest nonprofit organization representing providers of service to the elderly. More than 250 member organizations belong to CAHSA, including nursing facilities, retirement communities, independent living housing and business partners to these senior organizations.

CAHSA provides its membership with the techniques, data, information and education necessary for them to adapt and modify their programs in response to ongoing changes in long-term care. CAHSA will celebrate its 40 th Anniversary at their annual convention conference in May.
