THE SECRET TO LIVING TO 150 . . . RESIDES RIGHT HERE IN DENVER

re: Denver's Dr. Terry Grossman to appear on Barbara Walters' News Special:
"Live To Be 150 . . . Can You Do It?"
(Airs Tuesday, April 1st on ABC at 10:00 p.m. Eastern & Pacific Time, 9:00 p.m. Central & MST Time)

Dr. Terry Grossman "90% of my patients will take the steps to health,
rather than just put another band aid on their health problem!"

Denver, Co - Dr. Terry Grossman is the nation's leading proponent of "immortality medicine" and strongly believes that humankind stands on the verge of radical increases in life span and longevity. He is board certified in anti-aging medicine and is the founder and medical director of Grossman Wellness Center (www.grossmanwellness.com) in Denver, Colorado. His longevity practice attracts patients, including many VIP's, from around the country and the world.

Dr Grossman's attraction to the less-traveled paths of medicine kicked into high gear as he hit his late forties. "As I began experiencing my own aging process, I began to look at 'aging' as a disease that I could treat. From that spark came the genesis of the two parts of my clinic: Frontier Medical Institute, which specializes in vitamin & nutritional treatments for disease, and Grossman Wellness Center, which offers anti-aging and wellness evaluations and treatments. This "less traveled path" soon took Dr. Grossman to places he'd never dreamed of, including the upcoming Barbara Walters News Special: "Live to Be 150 . . . Can You Do It?"

Q: You've been an M.D. for 28 years, when did you begin practicing alternative and anti-aging medicine?

A: In 1994. Early on, when I began to use these alternative treatments, I offered my patients the option to use traditional prescription drug therapy or alternative methods. I found that over 90% of my patients elected to use the alternative methods. This was a huge awakening for me and after attending the 1st meeting of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine in 1994, I transformed my clinic from a standard medical practice to a complementary clinic and wellness center.

Q: Do you have a motto?

A: "Healing without Harm." I utilize safe therapies that don't have high probabilities for harm. For example, as we age, our bodies diminish the production of growth hormone, testosterone and DHEA. Instead of utilizing traditional hormonal replacement methods to increase HGH (human growth hormone), I like to increase HGH levels naturally, through diet, sleep and strength training.

Q: Why can't my doctor provide the same advice that you do?

A: Medical doctors and surgeons are remarkably uneducated when it comes to basic topics like nutrition and exercise. Nutritional education is surprisingly absent from traditional medical school studies.

Q: Are any of your services covered by insurance?

A: Yes, many of our diagnostic tests, such as CT scans, x-rays and blood tests are covered by conventional insurance. Other alternative diagnostics, such as mineral toxicities and hair analysis may not be.

Q: What are three things that we could start doing today to prolong our life?

A: #1 Reduce Sugar. First and foremost, I recommend drastically reducing your intake of sugar and sugary foods. As I review patients' food intake, I have found that most of them fail to consider the sugar content in the beverages they drink. Sugar levels increase the onset of common age-related diseases such as: cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes.

#2 Sleep Enough. Make the time and create the environment for regular sleep. This includes scheduling the time to wind down in the evening; turn down the lights for a couple of hours before you retire; don't read emails or watch overly exciting TV shows just before bed - and you'll sleep better.

#3 Get More Exercise. Strength training consistent with your age, as well as low-impact aerobics such as walking, inline skating, bicycling, cross-country skiing and yoga can be safely performed into one's 80's and beyond. Weight bearing exercises, when done properly, don't have a negative impact on joints. In fact, they strengthen ligaments, which actually protect the joints.

Q: What other diseases have you had success with?

A: I have had successes with age-related and other diseases, including cancer, heart disease, arthritis and osteoporosis. I especially like to treat patients who "fall through the cracks" of conventional medicine. These include diseases such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and "dry type" macular degeneration (untreatable with traditional medicine). Finally, we have had excellent results with autistic children and children with A.D.D. and A.D.H.D., utilizing nutritional and detoxification methods.

Q: What specific supplements do you recommend for adults?

A: I feel the health of most adults is improved by taking:
1). A Multi-Vitamin & Mineral Formula.
2). Fish Oil. Fish oil reduces inflammation and we have found that some of our biggest killers, such as heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, cancer, arthritis and Alzheimer's all have underlying inflammatory components.

Q: Any recommendations on preventing memory loss as we age?

A: Stress is the great memory destroyer. . .We have all gone into the next room and forgotten what we went in there for, right? In almost every case, the bottom line is stress. Long term stress can damage your memory permanently. My advice, control the stress as you go along in your life.

Q: Do you have a favorite success story or testimonial?

A: I have many favorites including this one from a 60 year old patient from Idaho:
"As a result of your program, my blood pressure fell in six months from 135/82 to 110/62, my asthma of thirty years totally disappeared, sinuses cleared up for the first time in my life, my edema went away, and my digestion improved from poor to perfect. I think everyone should try this program if they want to live a long, pain free life."

Q: What research projects are you currently working on?

A: I am Medical Director of the Health Innovations Foundation and we have just been awarded a $500,000 grant to study the use of high doses of intravenous vitamin C (50,000 mg/day) in the treatment of hepatitis C (the most common type of hepatitis). I am also in the process of completing my next book, a follow up to "Fantastic Voyage."

Dr Grossman is the author of "The Baby Boomer's Guide to Living Forever" and co-authored "Fantastic Voyage: Live Long Enough to Live Forever" with world renowned inventor and futurist, Ray Kurzwell.
