Dead Bodies! Rotting Flesh! Blood Spatter! CEC Middle College of Denver is hosting the first annual CSI Camp for middle schoolers. The idea started when the Criminal Justice/Forensics course at the Denver Public High School wanted to raise money for field trips. The idea of selling candy, car washes and silent auctions fizzled quickly until one student suggested a camp for younger kids. Their teacher agreed. "With shows like Forensic Files on T.V., kids are being exposed to scientific methods. I get to expand on that and teach them how cool it is to learn science with something they love." The program is meant to be fun but the class hopes it can do more than that by getting kids interested in different areas of science. The camp will feature a unit on forensic entomology where kids will raise bugs to determine life cycle and let meat decompose outside, blood spatter, fingerprints, and traffic investigations. The organizers hope that the students will have a good time while also getting kids more interested in science. Spots are still available for this camp which runs from 7/30-8/3.
