Beginning in July of 2006, families of the Theatre Department of Denver School of the Arts organized a 15-mile bike ride to raise money for their upcoming year. The event was called "Fools on Bikes" and the logo -- a jester on a bike! All summer, the 130 students were collecting pledges, and donations, trying to raise what would help fund their 2006-2007 school year. On Aug. 27, the theatre majors turned in their pledges, jumped on their bikes and rode from the Littleton Golf and Tennis Center to Creekside Park, where they met their friends and family for a potluck picnic and discovered the outcome of their hard work. Because of everyone's cooperation and help, the Theatre Department raised over $19,000 dollars. This money will help them bring in guest artists, and fund their upcoming shows in the 2006-2007 year. Because the ride was so successful, and a good time was had by all, talk to make it a yearly event is getting the department exited for the year!
The Theatre Department would especially like to thank all of the people who made their ride such a success. The parent volunteers, everyone who donated time and money to support the ride, and the corporate sponsors who supported them in so many ways. Thanks to everyone, and hope to see you next year!!
