For ten years, Lighthouse Writers Workshop has been offering high-quality writing workshops for adults. Now Lighthouse's programming has been expanded to include teens and 'tweens, age 10 to 18.
Every month, youth workshops are held at the historic Thomas Hornsby Ferril house, 2123 Downing Street in Denver. The workshops focus on building the fundamentals of writing through guided readings, discussions, and writing exercises designed to bring out the inner Hemingway (or Woolf) in every participant. All instructors are working, published writers with a passion for their craft.

January 21 & 28 (Sundays) 1:00-3:30
Sometimes life is stranger than fiction. Take the following headline for example: "Speeding driver blames lack of goats." Surely, there's a story in this! There are stories all around us. Everyday things like news stories, people, and events in our lives can trigger the imagination. In this workshop, we'll dig deeper and develop these stories, and explore fictional techniques that can bring them to life on the page.
Who You Are, Who Are You?: A Memoir Workshop
February 18 & 25 (Sundays) 1:00-3:30 PM
Everyone has accomplished and failed, known interesting people and environments, and experienced hilarious, painful, and fascinating moments. Everyone has lost something, and found something. Everyone has a story to tell, and if told well, they are stories people will want to hear. Like all good stories, wonderful memoirs have strong characters, creative descriptions, authentic dialogue and forward movement. This workshop will help you to explore the events, the family and friends, and the places that make up your personal history, and will get you started writing the story of your life.
