West's mural team took their talent on the road last week, when they
painted a 17'x50' mural on the side of the VFW building at 10th and McIntyre Street in Golden, Colorado.
Recent West High School graduates, Bimmer Torres, Ratha Sok, Josh Rogers and WHS sophomore, Jesus Rodriguez were excited to demonstrate the spray painting technique as a tool for realistic art and the veterans were excited to give their building a new patriotic look.
According to sponsors Maureen Hearty and Lynne Milliken, both the veterans and the mural team got to know and respect each other over the two-day project.
As the images of all the branches of the U.S, mililtary emerged, the veterans began to share their personal stories with the painters and the mural team shared their techniques and expertise in art with the men and women at Post 4171.
"It was a great learning experience for all of us" said Hearty.
Where will the West High Mural Team strike next? We'll keep you posted!
