CCU's Mallinson Promoted--Assoc. Prof. of Theology

Lakewood, Colorado - Colorado Christian University (CCU) faculty member Dr. Jeffrey Mallinson has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor of Theology. The promotion was announced by Dr. Cherri Parks, Vice President for Academic Affairs. Mallinson's new position will take effect at the beginning of the 2007-2008 academic year. "Jeff is an outstanding scholar and a great teacher," Dr. Parks commented.

CCU President Bill Armstrong praised Mallinson's knowledge, energy, and ability to inspire students. "Jeff is a rising star, already a leader in his field, and has a brilliant future ahead," Armstrong stated. "He makes an extraordinary contribution to CCU."

Joining the University in 2003, Dr. Mallinson has served as a member of the School of Theology faculty, as associate dean in the School of Business and Leadership, and as Assistant Provost. In addition, he has been a member of the Deans Council since 2005 and is actively involved with various faculty committees. He was appointed Dean of the School of Theology in 2005.

Dr. Mallinson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion in 1996 from California's Concordia University, where he won the Senior Award in Religion. He graduated from Oxford University in 2000 with a Doctor of Philosophy degree. While at Oxford, he received the Denyer and Johnson Award for Graduate Research. His dissertation-"Fides et Cognitio: The Direction of Religious Epistemology under Theodore Beza"-studied the nature of theological education and the use of philosophy in an emerging Protestant academy. His bachelor's thesis discussed "The Individual and Community within [John] Calvin's Geneva."

Dr. Mallinson has published many scholarly articles and reviews. He is recognized for notable presentations both on campus and at national scholarly gatherings. He is a member of the American Academy of Religion, Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Oxford Union Society, Renaissance Society of America, and the Sixteenth Century Studies Society and Conference. He also appeared as Henry VIII in CCU's 2006 production of "A Man for all Seasons."

Mallinson is married to the former Stacie Wood of Lake Forest, California. They have two children, Augustin and Aidan, and live in Evergreen, Colorado.
