Seven DPS teachers honored with award

Seven Denver Public Schools teachers were recognized by the Denver Teachers' Awards, a chapter of Colorado Awards, at a banquet on Wednesday, April 25, 2007. Nominations were made to the awards organization by parents, peers, and supervisors. These teachers were selected for this year's award for their outstanding teaching performance. Each teacher received one thousand dollars, a plaque, and a certificate for their service.
The seven outstanding teachers honored at the banquet on April 25 were:
Ann Haro, Special Education
Barbara Smith, Slavens Elementary School
Beth Kenny, CEC Middle College, Denver
William Achbach, George Washington High School
Jim Moravec, North High School
Tracy Pine, Morey Middle School
Bonnie Staack, Ellis Elementary School
Also, Cindy Daisley, a parent volunteer at North High, received the Helen Phelps Award. This annual award is given to an outstanding volunteer in the Denver Public Schools.
