Abels has made a name for himself in Denver, in just a little over a year, for representing the suburbs from the sky. Making a day job of riding in airplanes and taking photographs of the ground below, he has represented the mind-numbing multiplicity of row after row of identical houses, as well as the wide-open skies around them. The process has also been a source of inspiration for the paintings Abels has been making recently.
