The British masterpiece, John Oliver, will be making an appearance in the Mile High City prior to Easter Sunday, March 21

nd. He can be seen as Jon Stewart's correspondent on
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and has been performing across Great Britain for almost a decade. He has performed shows in the Edinburgh Festival, and he wrote and starred in a BBC Radio series for three seasons, titled The Department. It should also be noted that although he has not received any major awards, he had received a letter of complaint from Buckingham Palace about his satirical spoofs about the Queen of England!
Now in North America, Oliver also makes satire about American culture in a way that makes us all laugh along with him. Material for his stand-up acts include alternative energy sources, the war in Iraq, President Bush, and celebrities in the spotlight. He also frequently brings up shared history between America and Britain, including gags about World War II, the President's international travels, and early English settlers in America. Some of his best material involves Americans not being able to understand British accents, claiming: "...you would have heard a lot more if you hadn't thrown our tea into the Boston Harbor."
Oliver can be defined as a cheery hooligan, but his overall spunky and witty attitude allows him to laugh along with the audience he shares. He does not simply do solo work, frequently enjoying projects with Andy Zaltzman, a fellow comedian who works with him on their "audio newspaper." Let's give him a warm welcome to the Mile High City by greeting him next weekend, March 21
