Firehouse Theater Company presents
Arcadia
by Tom Stoppard
Directed by Christopher Leo
Denver, CO - In 1809, Thomasina Coverly, the 13 year-old daughter of the house, is a brilliant prodigy with ideas about mathematics well ahead of her time. She studies with her tutor, the bright and rakish Septimus Hodge, a friend of Lord Byron, an unseen guest in the house. Fast-forward to 2008 when writer Hannah Jarvis is investigating a hermit who once lived on the grounds, and Bernard Nightingale, a professor of literature, is investigating a mysterious chapter in the life of Byron. As their investigations unfold, the truth about what happened in 1809 is gradually revealed as time, characters and their shared aspirations and dreams overlap until all that remains is a collection of fascinating human beings with whom you will delight in spending the evening.
The talented cast, under the direction of Christopher Leo, includes Gregory Adams, Amber Louise Davis, Dell Domnik, Ryan Everett Howard, Michael Marlow, Jason Maxwell, Jamie Ann Romero, Lisa Rosenhagen, Austin Terrell, Jono Waldman, Terry Ann Watts and Noah Wilson.
Tom Stoppard is an Academy Award winning screenwriter (Shakepeare in Love) and multiple Tony Award winning playwright famous for plays such as The Coast of Utopia,The Real Thing, Travesties, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, The Real Inspector Hound and Rock 'N' Roll, and also for writing the screenplays for Munich, The Bourne Ultimatum and Brazil. Arcadia won the Olivier (West End) award for Best Play in 1995.
