LDS Church youth host Denver area young adults -PARKER, Colo. - April 26, 2006 - More than 1,000 young adults,
ages 16-19, are planning to attend a unique modest Spring Formal
prom Friday, May 5
th, from 8 - 11 p.m. at
TheWildlife Experience in Parker.
Hosted by the young adults of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, this Spring Formal Prom is being billed as an
opportunity for LDS young adults and their friends to experience a
wholesome, fun evening with great music and refreshments.
"Many of our young people have indicated displeasure for some
local proms where inappropriate behavior and dancing are allowed,"
said Lynn Southam, president of the LDS Church's Arapahoe Stake and
one of eight local Church leaders organizing the event. "In
addition, we were seeing news stories across the country expressing
similar concerns. The youth wanted to host an evening of wholesome
dancing and socializing with other fine young people in this area.
We are planning a terrific experience for these high school youth
to bring a date, or to come alone, and to relax and have some fun
in a very wholesome environment."
Music will be selected for appropriate lyrics and no alcohol or
tobacco will be allowed.
