Free Emergency Preparedness Fair For Families

Denver, Colo. - May 10, 2007 - A free, public Emergency Preparedness Fair offering helpful hands-on skills and information, will be held Saturday, May 12, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 740 Hudson Street, Denver, Co. 80220

Experts from Office of Emergency Management and Red Cross will be available to offer a variety of tips and techniques to prepare families and individuals in the event of man-made or natural disasters. The Denver Fire Department will also be on hand from 10 am to 12 Noon with one of their large fire trucks for public tours.

Visitors will learn how a family of four can build a three-month supply of food and necessities that costs less than ten dollars a week. Other information includes instructions on how to make or acquire a 72-Hour Kit; how to stay warm and cook without natural gas or electricity; food storage; how to store and purify water; how to create "calling trees" to stay in touch with loved ones; and how to practice fire safety and first aid skills.

Additionally, there will be information on how to gather and store important documents, financial preparation, as well as counseling from employment specialists.

Directions: When heading north on Colorado from 6 th Ave. turn right on 8 th Ave. turn right on Hudson. End at 740 St. on the left.
