DENVER MAN RUNNING FOR 2008 MAN OF THE YEAR

Rick Janson Campaigning to Raise Money for the Rocky Mountain Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Denver resident Rick Janson is one of six local candidates competing in the Rocky Mountain Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) annual "Man & Woman of the Year" fundraising campaign. The individual man and woman who raise the most funds during the eight week campaign will be awarded the title of Man & Woman of the Year.

This is Rick's second year competing for the title of Man of the Year; he raised nearly $6,000 last year. "I decided to run again in honor of a friend who is a survivor of blood cancer, and in honor of the Boy & Girl of the Year, who are brave survivors given a second chance at having a fruitful life because of the hard work of the LLS," Janson said.

In addition to an active email campaign, Janson will host a wine tasting event on Mother's Day (May 11) at 1914 S. Humboldt St. from 2-8 p.m. In addition, Janson will host the 5 th Annual Bachelor / Bachelorette Auction at Sutra Lounge from 6- 9 p.m. on Friday, May 23. The price of admission for each event is $20. For more information or to become a bachelor/ette, visit www.nbaDenver.com and click on the LLS logo.

"Rick is a true hero and inspiration," said Rebecca Russell, executive director for the Rocky Mountain Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. "By stepping up once again as a candidate to raise money for the Rocky Mountain Chapter, he is selflessly giving his time, energy and support to help the thousands of Coloradoans who are diagnosed with blood cancer each year."

Funds raised through the campaign are invested by LLS in leading-edge research that investigates the causes of blood cancers and seeks better therapies. The funds are also used to provide patients, their families and friends with blood cancer information and services to help them cope throughout their journey.

The Man & Woman of the Year will be named at the Grand Finale Election Night which will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at the Denver Marriott City Center. Local winners will go on to compete nationally.
