Despite the heat, the Denver Art Museum (DAM) kept its cool for national
Hot Enough for Ya Day on July 23. For the second year in a row, the Museum partnered with the Regional Air Quality Council (RAQC) to serve as an official summer "chill zone" where visitors can come to escape the climbing temperatures.
This week, the RAQC Chill Crew represented the cause in the DAM Hamilton Building lobby, passing out "Pledge to Chill" cards and tip sheets on how Museum visitors can do their part to help reduce seasonal ozone pollution.
Heat from the summer sun contributes to a higher level of pollutants in the air, which increases ground-level ozone during this season. RAQC encourages locals to take public transit to their destinations, in addition to mowing lawns and filling gas tanks during the cooler evening hours to reduce ozone impacts.
Chilling out indoors at the DAM this summer is a great way to cool down and help the environment. Great exhibitions and activities are on hand, including
Landscapes from the Age of Impressionism, a collection of gorgeous outdoor scenes from artists including
Monet,
Courbet and
Sargent Family and kid-friendly activities, include artmaking, classes, camps and in-gallery games for the whole family, which the DAM an ideal summer chill zone.
