Dear Editor:
The upcoming election is quickly approaching, and though there is no national election to generate excitement, we in Jefferson County do face a very important choice on the soon-to-be-mailed ballot. We will be asked to vote for three of the five positions on our Jeffco School Board. One of these seats is currently held by Rick Rush who is up for re-election. Rick Rush has been a devoted volunteer for Jeffco schools for over 15 years, and has excelled in his work at the district level. He is the current Secretary and Treasurer of the Jeffco School Board and is an original and current member of District's Compensation Study Team, a group striving to find compensation structures that reward exemplary performance in a cost conscious environment. Formerly, he has served as chairman of the District's Accountability Committee (Strategic Planning and Advisory Council) and was a member of the District's Financial Oversight Committee.
I have worked with Rick as a volunteer and have always been impressed with his intelligence, reasoning and gracious nature. I know that he will continue to pursue and require accountability from administrators and teachers, and his work on the school board will continue to focus on maintaining a strong, transparent financial structure. He is a committed member of the community working for quality education for all students. I strongly encourage our mountain community to vote for Rick Rush for the Jeffco School Board.
