AJA Resident Paul Perkel Voted Resident of the Year by Housing Denver
Paul Perkel, a six-year resident of Allied Jewish Apartments, was voted resident of the year by Housing Denver, a network of advocates for affordable housing. "I feel very flattered," said Perkel. "Volunteering at Allied has made me feel useful and I'm glad that I can help other people."
As a Senior Companion, Paul escorts residents to doctor appointments, accompanies staff on outings for residents, helping to make sure everyone has the help they need. He has been a building representative and is currently Resident Council President, where he holds monthly resident meetings and helps to resolve any resident concerns. Perkel, 70, lives with his wife,
Marcia, and is actively involved in the lives of his four children, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
"We are very grateful to have a resident as wonderful as Paul, and are delighted that he has been recognized for all he does for other people at Allied Jewish Apartments," said
Shelley Haseltine, Activities Director at AJA.
