Here we are one year later. My mother is safely at home, her true home. She was diagnosed with breast cancer twelve years ago. Then again diagnosed three weeks before Christmas of 2004. My mother
Mabel Saiz
was a fighter, role model and a hero. I am not ever enlightened to say "was" because she to everyone of us, still is. Her spirt is in all of our family. We all have some part of her in one way or another.
My first article was about the battle my mother was going through. These were not only physical, but mental battles. We are now one year in defeat of the battle. But, I believe we did not lose, we have taken in the fight and all of us have gained personal strength. My mother is safe and has left us all with her strength, courage and outlook on life.
Life is so different without her physically. We all have had are personal struggles with dealing with it. As well as my father. We always try to overcome what we are going through by finding the courage she has left with all of us. I don't know if the pain will ever go away, but I do know that we are not alone.
I would like to dedicate this article to my father,
Joe E. Saiz
. We all know the struggle we are going through and I know it must be a world of difference for him, not having his wife and companion. You are doing a great job dad. Remember we are here for you. Thank you for being you, and loving us, no matter what. You are a gift and we are very thankful for you. We love you dad.
