In the spring of 1956, there was a new arrival on Broadway.
Rex Harrison
and
Julie Andrews
starred in the hit show,
My Fair Lady
. Thousands of miles away in Denver, Colo., there was another new arrival and he too, would leave his "Mark" on the world.
Mark Goldstein
, President and CEO of Scott's Liquid Gold will turn 50 on April 4th, 2006. Coincidentally, on the same day, Scott's Liquid Gold will celebrate the 55th anniversary of the company. Both Mark and Scott's Liquid Gold were born and raised in Denver. Liquid Gold was started in Mark's grandmother garage 5 years before his birth. Mark began his employment unofficially, at the age of 13, working in the manufacturing plant located near I-70 and Havana St. Mark is a graduate of George Washington High School and Syracuse University and has worked full-time at Scott's Liquid Gold since 1978. His father,
Jerry Goldstein
was the founder of the company and he and Mark worked together until his death in 2000. His mother,
Goldie Cohen Goldstein
was also a Denver native.
Mark is very proud of his long history and connection in Denver. Many may recognize his voice on the radio each day on The Fan with
Irv Brown
. Scott's Liquid Gold is the sponsor of Sports Trivia and has become a fixture on afternoon talk radio. Mark and Scott's Liquid Gold have made their home in Denver. Living in southeast Denver with his wife and three kids, Mark has been a devout Bronco fan since 1968 and is a connoisseur of local lore.
Best wishes to Mark and to Scottt's Liquid Gold as they celebrate a half century of work and family here in Denver.
