Police blotter: Wallet lost from car roof


Incidents reported by Denver Police

A Dallas, Texas man reported the loss of his wallet containing about $3,200 in cash after a trip to a liquor store on the 900 block of Jersey Street on Feb. 15. The man reported he left the wallet on top of his car and drove away and could not find the wallet after returning to the scene and searching the neighborhood. The wallet also contained credit cards and identification.

An employee of an Anadarko Petroleum office at 1099 18 th St., reported her purse was stolen from her desk between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Feb. 19. The purse contained cash and credit cards. The loss was estimated at $2,500. A report stated a surveillance tape showed someone entered the office during that time who was not an employee.

Police investigated the burglary of a law office at 645 Grant St., reported at 9 a.m. Feb. 20. The burglary is believed to have occurred between 5 p.m. Feb. 8 and 1 p.m. Feb. 10. The stolen items included a Toshiba laptop computer, grey leather jacket, a suede winter coat, a flat-screen television, two gold rings, a gold watch, two other watches, a Trek bicycle, digital camera, a video camera, a shotgun, prescription medications and personal checks. There was no immediate estimate of the value of the stolen items.

Police investigated a report of theft by an employee of Metro State College of Denver reported Feb. 15. A report said the employee had taken four high-definition digital cameras home for inventory around mid-January, as part of his duties. Police said after school officials made repeated attempts to retrieve the cameras, the employee sent a letter saying he had pawned the equipment "because of financial burdens" and had stolen and pawned other school items as well. Investigators were trying to verify what other items were missing. The estimated valued of the stolen cameras was $20,000.

A Jacksonville Beach, Fla. man reported the theft of ski equipment, a digital camera, an mp3 player, books and a GPS unit from a car parked on the 900 block of Colorado Boulevard on Feb. 17. Between midnight and 9 a.m., someone took a duffle bag containing the equipment from the trunk and the other items from the car interior. The loss was estimated at $3,200.

An Avon man reported the break-in of his 1999 Jeep Cherokee parked in a garage on the 900 block of Colorado Boulevard on Feb. 19. Between 11:30 p.m. Feb. 18 and 5:15 a.m. Feb. 19, someone broke a driver's side window and stole an iPod and adapter valued at $2,600.

A Thornton man reported the theft of items valued at $6,700 from his 2003 Dodge truck Feb. 17 while parked on Speer Boulevard at Larimer Street. Between 11 p.m. Feb. 16 and 1 a.m. Feb. 17, someone broke a passenger side window and stole a laptop computer and accessories, a radio/CD player, an amplifier, speakers and speaker box, an iPod, two cases of CDs and $500 cash. Damage was estimated at $300.

An Aurora man reported the break-in of his 2000 Chevrolet truck parked at 14th and Market streets on Feb. 17. A report said between 9 p.m. Feb. 16 and 1:45 a.m. Feb. 17, someone broke a passenger side window and stole a car stereo, an amplifier, speakers, a PlayStation, a woman's purse and $500 in traveler's checks. The loss was estimated at $2,375.

A resident of the 500 block of Pearl Street reported the theft of private patient information, hospital ID badges and access cards for Porter, Swedish, Sky Ridge Littleton and Parker hospitals as well as other items in the break-in of a 2006 Nissan SUV. Between 5 p.m. Feb. 19 and 6 a.m. Feb. 20, someone broke a rear window and stole the records and badges along with personal papers, sunglasses and shoes. The loss was estimated at $200. There was no immediate estimate of damage.

A Denver woman reported the break-in of her 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-240 parked on the 1400 block of Lawrence Street on Feb. 16. Between 6:15 and 8 p.m., someone broke out a driver's side window and stole a purse, a wallet, an iPod and adapter valued at a total of $859. Damage to the window and door frame was estimated at $400.
