PURSE SNATCHED ON 16TH ST. MALL
Police investigated a purse-snatching April 24 on the 16th Street Mall at Tremont Place. An Aurora woman was with a man about 7 p.m. when a black man described as being in his 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 140 pounds, wearing a white shirt with a dark stripe on the front, allegedly pushed the woman and took her small black purse and ran north on Tremont Place. The stolen purse was later recovered on the 1900 block of Welton Street.
OH WOE, THERE GOES THE OBOE
A Boulder woman reported the theft of an oboe valued at $6,000 from her car while parked on 14th and Champa streets April 28. The report said the instrument was on the floor of the car while the woman went to lunch between 1:30 and 3 p.m. A small briefcase, valued at $200,also was stolen. There was no sign of forced entry to the vehicle, according to the report.
STEREO, IPOD, PURSE STOLEN IN BREAK-IN
A Castle Rock woman reported the break-in of her 1993 Honda Accord parked on the 600 block of 15th Street on April 28. Between 2 and 3 p.m., someone apparently jimmied open the driver and passenger-side doors and stole a built-in stereo, an iPod and a purse containing keys, credit cards, gift cards and personal papers. The car locks and gear shifteraslo were damaged. The total loss was estimated at $4,540.
SCHOOL COMPUTER STOLEN
An employee of East High School, 1600 City Park Esplanade, reported the theft of a desktop computer April 23. A report said the computer was stolen from a classroom between 2:25 and 2:50 p.m. The unit was valued at $1,200.
ITEMS FORGOTTEN AT SECURITY STATION STOLEN
An Arvada man reported the theft of his wallet containing credit cards, personal papers, $275 cash, a cell phone and eye glasses from a security bin at the Denver City and County building, 1437 Bannock St., on April 25. The report said the items were left behind in the bin after the man passed through a metal detector and went to pay a traffic court fine between 4 and 4:30 p.m. When he returned for the forgotten items they were gone. The loss was estimated at $975.
BUSINESS COMPUTER STOLEN
An employee of a Quiznos, 1475 Lawrence St., reported the theft of a laptop computer April 30. The theft was discovered during an inventory and the exact date of the theft is unknown. The unit was valued at $1,000 and an investigation is continuing.
ALARM DISABLED, STEREO STOLEN
An Aurora man reported the break-in of his 1998 Acura Integra parked on the 1000 block of South Clarkson Street on April 26. Between midnight and 7 a.m., someone disabled the car alarm and stole a CD player, amplifier and speakers valued at $1,400.
WINDOW LEFT OPEN, LAPTOP STOLEN
A resident of the 600 block of West 29th Avenue reported the break-in of his vehicle and the theft of items valued at more than $4,400 on April 29. The report said between noon April 24 and 5 p.m. April 28, someone unlocked the car through a partially-opened window and stole a laptop computer, iPod, 70 CDs, check books and credit cards and a carry bag.
THIEF RIDES OFF WITH COMMUTER BIKE, CARRIER
A Denver man had his mountain bike and carrier containing a laptop computer and other electronics stolen while he was at a business at 1460 Platte St. about 2:20 p.m. April 25. The man had gone into the coffee shop and was waiting to order when an employee said a suspect had ridden off on the bike. The man ran home and got his car to scour the neighborhood, later spotting the bike carrier on the north end of Platte Street near a skate park. The bike, computer, iPod, headset and other items were valued at a total of $4,390.
SUV BREAK-IN REPORTED
A Superior woman reported the break-in of her Ford Escape parked on the 700 block of Water Street on April 25. Between 9 a.m. and 1:45 p.m., someone used a rock to smash a passenger side window and stole clothing, a cell phone, a purse containing $146 cash, credit cards and a day planner. The loss was estimated at $971. Damage was estimated at $400.
TV, PURSE STOLEN DURING MOVE-OUT
A Denver man reported the theft of a flat-screen television and his girlfriend's purse from a Ford SUV parked on the 1800 block of Bassett Street April 29. The report said the man and his girlfriend went back into the apartment for a few minutes after placing the television and purse into the SUV, and discovered them missing when they returned. The stolen items, including $86 cash in the purse, were valued at a total of $1,936.
COMPUTER STOLEN DURING VOLVE BREAK-IN
A Parker man reported the break-in of his 2001 Volvo S-60 parked on the 2900 block of Huron Street on April 29. Between 11 a.m. and 1:55 p.m., someone smashed a passenger side window with a rock and stole a laptop computer, bag and accessories valued at a total of $1,755.
GPS UNIT STOLEN IN BREAK-IN
An Aurora woman reported the break-in of her 2001 Mercury Cougar parked on the 2700 block of Mile High Stadium Circle on April 28. A window was broken to gain entry, and a GPS system valued at $500 was stolen. Damage was estimated at $300.
