Police blotter: Alleged assault investigated

ALLEGED ASSAULT INVESTIGATED
Police investigated a reported assault in a parking lot at Park Avenue and Blake Street reported about 4:24 p.m. May 8. A 34-year-old Denver man said he saw a white man about 30 to 35 years old urinating in the parking lot as a Rockies game was getting out and a second man waiting in a gold- or silver-colored car nearby, allegedly smoking a joint. The Denver man said he confronted the suspects and told them to leave and was punched in the mouth by the first suspect. The Denver man reported the man driving the car struck him with the side view mirror as he left the parking lot. Police said the Denver man suffered no obvious injuries.

HOMELESS MAN BUSTED FOR THREATENING
Police arrested a 50-year-old homeless man on suspicion of criminal trespass and felony menacing May 13 after he allegedly threatened a 25-year-old Denver man with a screwdriver. Police said the suspect allegedly broke into the Denver's man car on the 0-99 block of 17th Avenue about 3:20 p.m., and stole an iPod and DVD player. The Denver man witnessed the theft and gave chase when the suspect fled on foot. When confronted, the suspect allegedly threatened to stab and kill the Denver man and pursued him after brandishing a screwdriver. The suspect was taken into custody by an off-duty Denver police officer, according to the report.

SUV BREAK-IN REPORTED
A Denver man reported the break-in of his 2000 Chevrolet Blazer parked at the intersection of 18th and Curtis streets on May 11. Between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., someone broke a driver-side window and stole a GPS system and a digital camera valued at a total of $830. There was no immediate estimate of damage.

GPS SYSTEM STOLEN
A Northglenn woman reported the theft of a GPS system valued at $240 when someone broke into her 1998 Ford Mustang parked at 14th and Larimer streets May 13. Between 11 and 11:30 p.m., someone broke a driver-side window to gain entry.

TRAILBLAZER BREAK-IN REPORTED
An Aurora man reported the break-inn of his 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer parked in a garage at 19th and Wazee streets May 11. Between 11 p.m. May 10 and 1:45 a.m. May 11, someone broke a passenger-side window and stole a television and navigation system, valued at $1,400. There was no immediate estimate of damage.

PURSE STOLEN FROM SUV
A Lakewood woman reported the break-in of her 2004 Toyota 4Runner parked on the 900 block of Lincoln Street on May 11. Between 9:15 p.m. May 10 and 1:45 a.m. May 11, someone broke a window and front windshield and stole a purse containing credit cards, military ID and driver's license. The purse was valued at $70. Damage to the windows was estimated at $700.

STEREO, CLOTHING STOLEN
A Denver woman reported the break-in of her 2000 Mitsubishi Galant parked on the 0-99 block of Broadway on May 11. Between midnight and 1:30 a.m., someone broke a driver-side window and stole an in-dash stereo, opened the trunk and stole clothing, including a leather jacket. The total loss was estimated at $1,300.

RADAR DETECTOR, IPOD, SUNGLASSES STOLEN
A Golden man reported the break-in of his 2006 Chevrolet Suburban parked on the 1700 block of Sherman Street on May 11. Between noon and 1:30 p.m., someone broke a passenger-side and stole an iPod, radar detector and a pair of sunglasses valued at a total of $885.

THIEF CALLED VICTIMS AFTER THEFT
A Lafayette couple reported the theft of a purse containing jewelry and cash and a cell phone as well as a denim jacket from Beta Nightclub, 1909 Blake St., on May 10. A report stated the items were left next to a DJ booth while the couple danced and was discovered missing about 1:30 a.m. The jewelry included two wedding rings valued at about $11,000. The couple reported getting calls from someone on the stolen cell phone offering to return it if someone would meet him at various locations, but the caller never showed.

HIDE-A-KEY PROBABLY FOUND BY THIEF
A Fort Morgan man reported the theft of items valued at more than $5,500 from his 2002 Ford pickup truck parked on the 100 block of South Washington Street on May 10. Between midnight May 9 and 1 p.m. May 10, someone got into the truck and stole golf equipment, clothing and electronics. The report said the owner also discovered his hide-a-key under a wheel well was missing.

HONDA BREAK-IN REPORTED
A Denver man reported the break-in of his 2006 Honda Civic parked in a building garage on the 400 block of Sherman Street on May 12. Between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., someone broke a front passenger window and stole a video game system and cartridges, a radar detector, GPS system, football cards and CDs and DVDs valued at a total of $1,700.
