WOMAN ROBBED IN CARJACKING
Police investigated a robbery and carjacking they believe may have been gang-related at 8155 E. Fairmount Drive on May 26. About 11:15 p.m., two men approached the woman as she went to her car in a parking lot, with one pointing a handgun at her. She was ordered to get into her car and drive the suspects on Colorado Boulevard, while one man rifled her purse, stealing about $200 in cash and her driver's license. She was told to turn onto 29th Street near Cherry Street and stop, and the suspects fled eastbound on 29th Street. Both suspects were described as black men, 22 to 29 years old, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and about 150 pounds.
MAN BUSTED IN DOMESTIC ASSAULT
A Denver man was arrested on suspicion of assault, domestic violence and false imprisonment June 2, after he allegedly struck his common-law wife at a residence on the 900 block of Quince Street. Police were dispatched to the residence at about 3 a.m. An investigation revealed the man punched the woman in the face, hit her head against a wall and choked her. The man held her in the bathroom for about 45 minutes, police said, until he left and she was able to get outside and call police from her cell phone.
HOME ROBBERY INVESTIGATED
Police investigated a report of armed robbery at a home on the 1100 block of Pearl Street at 9:50 p.m. May 25. Three male residents said they were at the apartment when four unidentified suspects entered brandishing a shotgun, a handgun and some type of blunt instrument and stole unspecified items valued at $550. There were no descriptions of the suspects listed in the report.
BUSINESS ROBBERY REPORTED
Police investigated the robbery of Advance America, 2640 S. Colorado Blvd., about 4:27 p.m. June 3. The store manager reported a white man about 50 to 64 years of age, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and around 180 pounds came into the store and asked for an employment application, and spent about 45 minutes filling it out. When customers had cleared out of the store, he approached the clerk and claimed to have a bomb in his backpack and demanded money. He fled on foot after receiving about $170 in cash.
TRIO ROBBED MAN DOWNTOWN
Police investigated the robbery of a Denver man by two men and a woman around the 1500 block of Curtis Street on June 4. About 12:10 a.m. the man was approached by the trio and they grabbed a bag he was carrying. The trio then surrounded him, police said, and one of the male suspects simulated having a handgun. The man gave the suspects his wallet and the suspects fled on Curtis toward 16th Street. The first suspect was described as a black man about 6 feet, 5 inches tall, about 180 pounds with a slim. The other male suspect was described as black, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, about 150 pounds with a slim build. The woman was described as 5 feet, 2 inches tall, about 160 pounds, with a dark complexion and black hair. All three were wearing black T-shirts and blue jeans, according to the report.
SECURITY GUARD HIT BY CAR
Police investigated an assault with a vehicle reported on June 1 by a Parker man working security at an RTD light rail station on the 800 block of South Broadway. About 11:15 p.m. May 31, the security guard observed three men acting suspiciously, one of whom pulled what appeared to be a burglary tool, commonly known as a slim jim, from his pocket. The suspects, described as a black man about 22 to 29 years old, about 5 feet, 11 inches tall, 155 pounds with a cross tattoo on his upper left arm and two Hispanic men, got into a silver Pontiac. When the security guard approached the window to speak with them, the driver put the vehicle into gear and struck the security guard with the left front fender as he drove off southbound on Broadway.
BANK ROBBER SOUGHT
Police investigated a bank robbery at Key Bank, 2776 N. Speer Blvd., reported about 1:30 p.m. June 2. A suspect described as a white man, 22 to 29 years old, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a slim build and brown, curly hair walked up to a teller and told her "Give me all the money in your drawer." The suspect took the cash and fled on foot around the building and headed north on Firth Court, police said.
ONE ARRESTED, FOUR SOUGHT IN ROBBERY
Police arrested one suspect and were looking for four others in a strong-arm robbery reported June 3 on the 4600 block of Tulsa Court at Montbello Civic Center Park. A Denver man told police he was held to the ground by the five men and robbed of unspecified items about 6:30 p.m. The man later identified one suspect who was arrested. There was no information on his age or residence. The other suspects were described as black males, all approximately 16 or 17 years of age. The loss was estimated at $200.
SHOT FIRED INTO HOME
Police investigated a shooting at a home on the 2500 block of Williams Street reported June 4. The resident told police between noon June 3 and 1:15 p.m. June 4, someone shot into the rear door of her duplex, breaking the glass on the outside door and into an interior wood door. There were no injuries and no immediate estimate of damage.
