SUPREME IRONY: 'ALIBI' TIES SUSPECT TO ROBBERY
When you're suspected of robbery, the last place you want to go is where everybody knows your name. Police said a 23-year-old Denver man attacked and robbed a 51-year-old man after the older man forced his way through a crowd in front of Tryst lounge, 1512 Larimer St., and bumped into his girlfriend. The suspect reportedly kicked the man in the back, punched him twice in the face, took his cell phone and fled on foot. In an escape to ditch his pursuer, police said, the suspect cut through Alibi lounge, 1523 Market St., where he used to work. The lounge's manager recognized the suspect and provided police with the suspect's name and information.
MAN ATTEMPTS TO RUN OVER COP
A 19-year-old Denver man added aggravated assault on a police officer to his list of troubles when he nearly ran over a police officer at about 2:45 p.m. April 23. According to reports, the officer was on school traffic enforcement when the suspect drove by, in a zone marked 20 miles per hour, at about 35 miles per hour. When the officer, on foot, attempted to flag the vehicle down, the driver reportedly stepped on the gas and nearly hit the officer. Police and a state trooper pursued the man to a nearby King Soopers store, where he was arrested. The suspect told the officer he "lost (his) mind" because he was on work release and couldn't have contact with police.
