Police blotter: Wild chase turns up vehicles, meth

WILD CHASE TURNS UP STOLEN VEHICLES, METH
Police arrested a 35-year-old Thornton man on suspicion of felony menacing, possession of methamphetamine, reckless endangerment and vehicular eluding after a wild chase that took him all across the north metro area, according to reports. Police say Westminster officers spotted the suspect near 54th and Meade streets at about 10:35 p.m. June 24 in a stolen pickup truck. The vehicle was tracked by police helicopter as it drove to downtown Denver, where Denver Police attempted to pull the vehicle over. The suspect reportedly eluded police and was spotted by helicopter driving recklessly through downtown, according to the report. When police got authorization to pursue the suspect, he reportedly drove north and crashed near the corner of East 78th Place and Grant Street, where he abandoned the vehicle and stole a motorcycle. After crashing the motorcycle, Adams County Sheriff deputies detained the suspect. When Denver Police arrived and searched the suspect incident to arrest, they reportedly found methamphetamine in the suspect's possession.

MAN ASSAULTED BY FIVE ON 16TH
A 23-year-old male was beaten by five unknown male suspects in jeans and collared dress shirts at about 1:40 a.m. June 21 at the corner of 16th and Market streets, according to police reports. Police said the man was taken to the hospital to be treated for bleeding from the face.

WOMAN BEATEN, ROBBED
A 27-year-old woman was beaten and robbed by three unknown male suspects at about 3 a.m. June 25, according to police reports. Police say the woman got off a bus on the 2300 block of Lawrence Street when she was approached by the men, who demanded her money. When she claimed not to have any, the men attacked her, took money from her pockets and fled on foot.

MAN SHOT AT WHILE CHASING THIEVES
An unknown suspect fired several times at a 38-year-old man during a confrontation over a stolen trailer at about 11 a.m. June 24, according to police reports. Police say the man was called at work and told the suspects were stealing a trailer from his home. As he drove home, he spotted a pickup truck hauling his trailer away and followed it, while calling police to notify them of the suspects' location. When the suspects took a hard right turn and flipped the trailer on the 3500 block of Wynkoop Street, the man and one suspect reportedly got out of their vehicles, and the suspect fired a .45 caliber handgun at him several times. Police said the man ran back to his truck and backed away while the suspects detached the trailer and fled.
