ROBBER STABS MAN WITH SCREWDRIVER
Police arrested a 41-year-old Jacksonville, Fla., man on suspicion of robbery after he reportedly stabbed a man with a screwdriver and took his money. According to reports, the suspect confronted the other man, 49, on the 400 block of East Colfax Avenue at about 4:30 p.m. July 4 and demanded his money. He then stabbed the man in the leg with the screwdriver, took the man's money and fled on foot. Police were reportedly able to apprehend the suspect after a brief chase.
MAN ARRESTED IN ATTEMPTED STABBING
A Denver man in his early to mid-20s was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault after an incident on the 1600 block of Champa Street at 3 a.m. July 8, according to police reports. Police say the suspect was in a fight with another man, 22, when the suspect pulled out a knife and attempted to stab him. Police said he was unable to stab him and fled, and that the man was not injured.
BURGLAR CAUGHT IN ACT
A 38-year-old transient man from Denver was arrested at about 3 p.m. July 8 for burglary after he was caught in the act by a resident. Police said the suspect had broken into at least two apartments on the 1400 block of Logan Street. A 35-year-old male resident spotted the suspect, chased him down and tackled him as police responded to the scene. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of second degree burglary.
BUG THEATER BURGLAR BUSTED
A 22-year-old Denver man was arrested when police found him attempting to break into the Bug Theater, 3654 Navajo St., at about 8 a.m. July 7. According to reports, the man was in a small space between the theater and a neighboring building, attempting to punch a hole in the wall with a metal pipe. Police arrested him on suspicion of burglary and criminal mischief.
MAN BEATEN BY THREE IN HOME
A 37-year-old Denver man was assaulted in his home on the 3200 block of High Street on July 5, according to police reports. Police said at about 6 p.m., one suspect, a 21-year-old Denver man, and two other unknown male suspects knocked on the man's door. When he answered, they reportedly beat him, struck him with a cell phone charger and kicked him while he was on the ground. The man did not call police, but instead filed a report the next day at the station. The identified suspect faces state charges for aggravated assault.
