Ice cream offer turns into robbery
Police were dispatched to the 3100 block of West 14th Avenue at 9:05 p.m. Aug. 8 on a robbery report. Upon arrival, police spoke with a 38-year-old man who said two men called him over to purchase ice cream. As he walked over to them, one suspect pulled out a handgun and told the man to hand over his money. The suspects then fled on foot through a nearby apartment complex. The man gave police descriptions of the suspects, but they weren't found at the time of the report.

Thieves make getaway on bicycles
At 2:37 p.m. Aug. 7, police responded to the 4500 block of Newton Street on a burglary report. A police investigation revealed three suspects gained entry into a house by cutting through a window screen of an unlocked window. Police said they stole several items and a witness saw one suspect head eastbound on West 45th Avenue on a bicycle. The other two suspects fled westbound also on bicycles. Police later found two of the suspects at Safeway, 3800 W. 44th Ave., and they were positively identified by the witness. They were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Traveling woman returns to ransacked home
At 1:30 p.m. Aug. 7, police responded to the 2300 block of South Lincoln Street on a burglary report. Upon arrival, police spoke with a 23-year-old Denver woman who said she returned home after a trip and found her front door was open and her living room was ransacked. Police searched the area and saw a picket fence near the house was broken and the back door's glass was shattered. No suspect information was reported.

Woman's car broken into
Police were dispatched to a parking lot at 601 Bryant St. at 4:44 a.m. Aug. 8 on a theft report. Upon arrival, police spoke with an 18-year-old woman who said she parked her car in the lot between 9 p.m. Aug. 7 and 2 a.m. Aug. 8. When she returned, she saw the driver side window was broken and various items were stolen. The woman's female passenger, also 18, had her gold purse containing credit cards and a pair of eye glasses stolen. No suspect information was reported.

Man tries to steal steaks from store
A 31-year-old Golden man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting Aug. 8. At 7:30 p.m., police responded to Safeway, 2660 Federal Blvd., on a theft report. Upon arrival, police spoke with the store's loss prevention officer who said the suspect attempted to leave with three packages of steak, worth $132.54, without paying. The suspect was detained by the loss prevention officer until police arrived.

Car in parking lot damaged
At 10:36 p.m. Aug. 8, police responded to a parking garage at 1255 19th St. on a criminal mischief report. Upon arrival, police spoke with the lot's security who said while making his rounds, he noticed a silver Hyundai Sonata had the driver side window broken out and the dash board damaged. The vehicle belonged to a 68-year-old Denver woman and she was not on scene at the time of the report.

Man's windshield shattered
At 2:27 a.m. Aug. 11, police responded to the 1400 block of Market Street on a criminal mischief report. Upon arrival, police spoke with a 27-year-old man who said he parked and locked his vehicle near a meter to go out with friends. When the man returned, he noticed his front windshield was shattered. There were no witnesses on scene or suspect information reported.

Repairman reports burglary
At 11:48 a.m. Aug. 11, police responded to the 8300 block of Fairmont Drive on a burglary report. Upon arrival, police spoke with a Qwest repairman who said he was at the residence on a service call. He noticed a woman at the apartment wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, dark sunglasses and gloves carrying a laptop computer. After completing his work, the man went to the apartment to tell the owner the repairs were done and saw the front door was forced open. He called police. There was no further information at the time of the report.

Break-in damages vehicle
At 4:31 p.m. Aug. 11, police responded to the 0-99 block of West Byers Place on a burglary report. Upon arrival, police spoke with a 30-year-old Denver woman who said between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Aug. 11, unknown suspect(s) entered her garage by breaking a window. In the process, the woman said her vehicle's front end was damaged. The suspect(s) stole several items and fled in an unknown direction. No suspect information was known at the time of the report.
