Angry man strikes clerk with coffee cup
At 5:32 a.m. Aug. 17, police responded to 7-Eleven, 1000 E. Colfax Ave., on an aggravated assault report. Police said a man between the age of 50 and 64 entered the store and argued with the clerk over coffee and ice. The suspect then threw a ceramic coffee cup at the clerk, causing a laceration on his head that required eight staples. Police took the store's video surveillance for evidence.
Man hits bouncer with bottle
At 8:40 p.m. Aug. 17, police responded to 3 Kings Tavern, 60 S. Broadway, on an aggravated assault report. Police spoke with a 31-year-old bouncer who said he asked a 23-year-old man to come back inside the bar because he was holding a drink. The man refused and struck the bouncer on the head with the bottle and fled across Broadway on foot.
Suspects ransack home
At 5 p.m. Aug. 17, police responded to the 500 block of Osceola Street on a burglary report. Police said unknown suspects kicked in the back door of a house and ransacked the living room and two bedrooms. No witnesses were in the area.
Vehicle stolen
At 7:28 a.m. Aug. 18, police responded to the 800 block of South Stuart Street on an auto theft report. Police said an unknown suspect(s) stole a red Jeep Cherokee belonging to an 18-year-old man by breaking off the lock. Estimated value of the SUV was $1,500.
Man escapes would-be robber
At 12:36 p.m. Aug. 18, police responded to the 8100 block of Fairmount Drive on a robbery report. Police spoke with a 58-year-old man who said he left his house to go for a walk when a heavy-set man in his late 30s to 40s forced him back inside. The suspect then pointed a knife at the man and demanded money. They took a taxi to an ATM at 200 Quebec St. where the man was able to escape and call police.
Woman's vehicle damaged
At 7:46 a.m. Aug. 19, police responded to the 2700 block of Lowell Boulevard on a criminal mischief report. Police spoke with a 39-year-old woman who said unknown suspects had damaged the passenger door, right rear window and steering column of her vehicle. She also said her ignition switch was punched out. There was no suspect information at the time of the report.
Home burglarized
At 11:36 a.m. Aug. 19, police responded to the 2100 block of South Williams Street on a burglary report. Police said between 3 and 9:45 a.m. Aug. 19, unknown suspects were able to gain access to a home and stole various items. They then fled in an unknown direction.
Driver punches man in the face
At 2:21 a.m. Aug. 14, police responded to the 1800 block of Blake Street on an assault report. Witnesses saw a man in his 20s driving a green jeep get into a verbal argument with a 25-year-old man. The driver then hit the man in the face and drove off. The 25-year-old man was taken to Denver Health for facial trauma.
Stolen items later recovered
At 9:29 a.m. Aug. 17, police responded to Wagner's Rents, 805 W. 39th Ave., on a burglary report. Police said unknown suspects broke windows of a garage and stole items from the business. Police later located the items in a yard a short distance from the business. Police took photos of the area to book into evidence.
