Fire started by clothes left on stove
On Sept. 10 at 9:07 p.m., police responded to the 2100 block of Lafayette Street on a fire report. Denver Fire Department crews also responded to the scene. Crews extinguished a stove fire that was reportedly started because of clothes left on top of the appliance. Police said the tenant of the apartment came home while investigators were still at the scene and admitted to leaving clothes on top of the stove. The incident was ruled an accident.
Construction site vandalized
On Sept. 8 at 5:37 p.m., police responded to the 1000 block of South Patton Court on a criminal mischief report. Police spoke with a 39-year-old woman who said she saw three suspects break into a construction site and one of them spray-painted a construction trailer, Bobcat and foundation of a building. Police were able to detain two of the suspects, whom the woman was able to positively identify.
Man sneaks into sorority
On Sept. 3 at 6:51 a.m., police responded to a sorority on the 2200 block of South Josephine Street on a burglary report. Police spoke with two 19-year-old women who said they were woken up by a man with a flashlight who removed items from their rooms and fled. Police investigation revealed the man entered the residence by prying a screen off a ground-floor window.
Man injured with blunt object
On Sept. 3 at 11:01 p.m., police responded to the Squire Lounge, 1800 E. Colfax Ave. on an aggravated assault report. Police spoke with 29-year-old man who said he argued with a man between the ages of 22 to 29. The suspect then hit the 29-year-old on the leg with a blunt object, causing an abrasion. The case is still under investigation.
Woman's car taken at gas station
On Sept. 8 at 8:59 a.m., police responded to Gas City, 3100 W. Jewell Ave., on a robbery report. Police spoke with a 41-year-old woman who said while at the gas station, two Hispanic males approached her and demanded keys to her vehicle. She said one man simulated a weapon through his clothes. They fled northbound on Grove Street.
Suspect tricks man, steals his car
On Sept. 9 at 9:11 a.m., police responded to the 3100 block of Arapahoe Street on a robbery report. Police spoke with a 68-year-old man who said he was sitting in his car when he was approached by a man who said there was damage to his bumper. As the man exited his vehicle, the suspect pushed him to the ground and took his keys. The suspect then fled eastbound on Arapahoe Street.
Woman's vehicle damaged with brick
On Sept. 9 at 9:17 a.m., police responded to the 3500 block of Tennyson Street on a criminal mischief report. Police spoke with a 21-year-old woman who said sometime between 10 p.m. Sept. 8 and 8:30 a.m. Sept. 9, unknown suspects had thrown a brick through the windshield of her vehicle.
Unlocked door lets burglars in
On Sept. 10 at 3 p.m., police responded to the 500 block of Oneida Street on a burglary report. Police investigation revealed sometime between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. that day, unknown suspect(s) entered a house through an unlocked door and took various items.
Burglars ransack house
On Sept. 10 at 7:20 p.m., police responded to the 2600 block of West Mississippi Avenue on a burglary report. Police said sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. that day, unknown suspects entered a house by cutting through a window screen and prying the lock. They ransacked the bedrooms and fled in an unknown direction.
Bike, sleeping bag taken from car
On Sept. 3 at 2:15 a.m., police responded to the 700 block of East Second Avenue on a theft report. Police spoke with a 25-year-old woman who said at 1:45 a.m., her car alarm woke her up. She went outside and saw the left rear window of her Nissan Maxima was broken and her bicycle and sleeping bag were stolen.
