New Daughters of the American Revolution being formed in Capitol Hill

Have you ever wondered about your heritage but didn't know how to proceed?

The Daughters of the American Revolution are hosting a workshop on Sat., Nov. 7, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Current members will be on hand to assist you in researching your genealogy to determine your eligibility for membership. The workshop will be held at the Adagio Bed & Breakfast, 1430 Race St., Denver, CO 80206.

The DAR is a non-profit, non-political worldwide service organization formed in 1890 and is devoted to promoting Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism. Membership in the DAR is a unique chance to establish your lineage and heritage as a descendant of a patriot of the American Revolution. Membership in the DAR gives members a chance to sharpen their leadership, public speaking, genealogical and organizational skills. By joining DAR, you will give something back to our country, the United States of America; you will have the opportunity to be of service to our community, and it is a way to keep America and family history alive.

The DAR gives expression to the concepts of God, Home and Country. For younger women it's an opportunity to add to their college resumes showing community service and to be in the company of dedicated, diverse and dynamic women.

This new chapter is being formed now. It is open to all women, age 18 and over, who would like to explore the basics of discovering their lineage.
